*Part of the Care Management Webinar Series to optimize hospital performance
Utilization Review (UR) is a structured process used to evaluate the necessity, appropriateness, and efficiency of medical treatments, procedures, and services. Its goal is to ensure that patients receive the right care, at the right time, in the right setting, using the right resources. Utilization review not only promotes high-quality, patient-centered care, but also helps control healthcare costs and improve clinical outcomes.
UR is a Condition of Participation (CoP) for Medicare and Medicaid, meaning that every Acute Care Hospital and Critical Access Hospital (CAH) is required to have a functioning utilization review process in place to maintain compliance and certification.
This webinar will provide a comprehensive review of the required CoP related to the UM process, status management, financial implications and role of the UM Plan and UM committee functions.
